This year we celebrate 50 years of the Caulfield/Glen Eira Historical Society 1972-2022!
The inaugural meeting of the Caulfield Historical Society was held on 13 September 1972 in the Caulfield Town Hall.
You will find out more about the formation of the Society and its history in forthcoming newsletters and in a display at Glen Eira Council gallery annex later in the year. But it is interesting to compare the early years of the Society to our workings today. The obvious formalities of the times aside, there was important heritage work undertaken by early volunteers as well as the beginnings of a collection as members and friends were encouraged to donate items.
This year we are planning some special events and we’d love you to join us – you can bring a friend/family member, our events are open to all. After two years of COVID and lots of Zoom we look forward to meeting again face to face and to engage more with our Community in person – fingers crossed.
